Meghalaya, meaning the ‘abode of clouds’ is one of the seven sister states of North -East India. Just as the name suggests, Meghalaya really is the paradise for nature and the adventurous lovers. Surrounded by hills, huge waterfalls, rich wildlife, lush forests, perpetual clouds, limestone caves, live bridges, rich traditional cultures and many other natural landscapes.

Meghalaya is the must visit tourist destination in India. Of the many tourist activities, the State is famous for various orchids. It is reported that over 439 texa of orchids belonging to 104 genera are recorded from the 3 hills (Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills) which surrounds Meghalaya. It is also a much sought tourist hotspot because of its famous food which basically isrice with spices and meats and fishes which are locally reared. The fruits and vegetables are also locally and abundantly grown. Therefore, those who like eating freshly prepared foods and fruits also enjoy visiting Meghalaya. Pickled bamboo shoots are also very famous spices to try out. The nearest Airport to the capital city of Meghalaya i.e. Shillong is Umroi Airport which is around 30 km.
